ABSTRACT
Atlas of ferruginous and siliceous materials, North Queensland

This Atlas fulfils one of the specific objectives of the P417
project, that is to determine a field scheme for the identification
and classification of sample types for use with exploration drilling
and surface sampling. The Atlas depicts ferruginous and siliceous
regolith materials that are found in the Mount Isa and Charters
Towers - north Drummond Basin regions in North Queensland. Each
group of regolith materials is subdivided into different regolith
types and sub-types. The classification is based on field relationships
and morphology of sliced hand specimens. Wherever feasible, regolith
types are related to photographically illustrated geomorphological
settings.
